It was in early 1991 that Rob Drummond dedicated himself
to working in the church. While practicing piano at
his home church for a college full-ride
scholarship audition, Rob was called to serve the church
in some capacity for the rest of his life. Rob had been
playing piano since age five and grew up in
Kansas City, Missouri.
Rob held true to his calling in 1995 by a accepting
a position as music minister for a small church in Kirksville,
Missouri, where he attended Truman State University.
After marrying his wife, Erika, and graduating from
Truman, they moved to the Bloomington area where they
both pursued graduate music degrees from Indiana University.
Rob became the music minister at UBC shortly after arriving
in 1996 and has served as music minister ever since.
After graduating from IU with a Masters of Arts in teaching
and a Masters of Music in tuba performance, Rob also
worked as a band director in Nashville and is currently
the choir/orchestra director at Eastern Greene Schools.
Rob is the father of two lovely children, Andy and Emily.
He is also an avid tuba player and cook, with a strong
interest in literature and computers.
What to expect from the music at UBC:
At UBC, you can expect to find a mostly traditional
worship service with lots of hymns. We have an amazing
amount of musical talent in our small church and are
blessed with an exceptional, smaller choir. In recent
years, UBC has experimented with adding more "contemporary"-sounding
offerings to our service with plans to further develop
a more blended worship outlook.
